Will Brown - Bigger and Better Pastures???

Its no shock that Albany AD Lee McElroy (excuse me, DR. Lee McElroy) isnt the biggest fan of Will Brown. His undercutting contract extensions (not signing until Aug. 2, 05 for the 05-06 season) and failure to deliver a long-term deal after the improvement Brown has brought to Albany is shameful. Bringing a Division I team to 20 wins in such a short time (after taking over for Scott Beeten in 2001) is not a feat that should be overlooked. He is an excellent recruiter that has scoured the tri-state area for talent (luring Jamar Wilson from bigger schools), which was well written in a NY Post article last week.

Whatever Albany does Saturday (and theyre going to win.....) , Will Brown deserves a multi-year deal to keep him in Albany and to build upon the great program that he was instrumental in building. His youthful enthusiasm in addition to his great basketball knowledge and relationship with his players are exactly the things that bigger schools look for when they look "outside the program", like when Louis Orr and Paul Hewitt went to Seton Hall and Georgia Tech, respectively. A season like the one Albany had will most certainly turn the heads of some larger Division I schools that are in need of a coach.
